Top 8 Best-Selling Music Artists of All Time

Apart from being honored by award giving bodies for best music performance, you also have to be able to sell millions of copies of your albums to earn a profit from your talent if you’re a music artist. Well, awards and recognitions are for those who have been successful in their musical career, so that goes without saying. But if you think that your music idols are the best then all you need to look for that will prove beyond your own doubts is their number of albums sold. Below are some of the best-selling singers/song-writers of all time.

The Beatles
The Beatles have sold at least 250 million albums since they entered the music industry, making between 600 million and 1 billion units sold throughout their career according to estimates. This puts them on par with our next best-selling artist…

Elvis Presley
The King of Rock n’ Roll music also has about the same sales record as the British rock group does and both share the same fame among millions (probably even billions) of fans across the world. Elvis’ songs are still being downloaded from various websites even today; it’s hard to believe that people are still making money from his songs.

Michael Jackson
Another King to top the musical charts is the King of Pop music Michael Jackson. According to records he was able to sell over 700 million copies of his albums throughout his career. No other solo artist could gather millions of crowds in their concert tours like Michael can, even his death caused the internet to shut down due to hundreds of millions of people going online to search for news related to his departing.

This 50-year old Diva who looks like a woman in her 30’s has dominated the music industry for 3 decades now and has sold more than 300 million copies of her albums. A living legend and a goddess of whatever is sexy, an icon that is known all over the world.

Elton John, Led Zeppelin, Queen and the Swedish quartet ABBA are on the same boat on albums sales, which is within 300 million copies. Now I know you’re so eager to know how your idols have fared compared to these music legends, so here’s a short list I’ve prepared:

  • Britney Spears – 82 million albums sold
  • Bon Jovi – 120 million albums sold
  • U2 - 140 million albums sold
  • Justin Beiber - 15 million albums sold
  • Taylor Swift – 25 million albums sold

If your favorite artist isn’t on the list, you can just do a quick Google search to find out; although I doubt they could break the 1 billion album sales barrier of Elvis and The Beatles. Cheers!
