Apple’s Latest iOS Version 5.1.1 Still Needs Fine Tuning

Recently Yahoo news said that Apple Inc. is the company that holds the US economy intact, and if Apple was to pull out of America (hypothetically) it would cause the demise of US and the rest of the world economically. Apple reported that since they made the iOS available to developers they estimate more than 550,000 iOS applications had been developed as of March 6, 2012. It comprises 59% of the entire mobile web data and has a 16% share of the operating systems on smartphones. They were also able to track over 25 billion downloads of the different iOS apps. However, the newest iOS version 5.1.1 upgrade is not as credible as it was advertised and a lot of users are not happy with it.

According to Apple the iOS 5.1.1 software update contains bug fixes and improvements that includes fixing bugs that affects battery life, audio issues during incoming/outgoing calls, more sensitive camera detection sensor and many more. But users do not agree to most of the features mentioned and are more inclined to downgrade iOS of their iPhones and iPads. There are many ways actually for you to replace your current iOS with the downgrade iOS 4.3 version, but keep in mind that not all devices are supported.

Supported Devices: iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPad 2G, iPad 1G, iPod Touch 4G and iPod Touch 3G.

Note: iPhone 4s is not supported.

Here’s how you can do it:

  • First, you’ll need to download the latest version of the RedSn0w software app onto your computer. Remember to download the application with the compatible operating system that you’re using (i.e. Windows or MAC OS X). You can search for the RedSn0w app in search engines using the same keyword or “jailbreak” or “jailbreaking.” Then download it.
  • Run it and click on the Extras button and then click on the Pwned DFU (Device Firmware Upgrade) button. Follow the instructions shown on the screen.
  • Do a manual override on Apple’s affirmation of the software update by going into C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\ (for Windows OS) and /etc/ (for the MAC OS X).
  • Find and open the file name ‘hosts’ and then open it in TextEdit and add these lines at the end gs.apple.com.
  • Save the file and launch iCloud or iTunes and restore your device after you downgrade iphone 4. Just press the ‘Shift’ key if you’re using Windows OS and the ‘Alt’ key if you’re on MAC OS X.
  • Finally, should you encounter the 10xx error code just use a tool called TinyUmbrella to fix it.

You now have successfully downgraded your Apple device to the iOS 4.3 version, which is the much preferred app by most users. Do look out for the better working version of the iOS 5.1.1 soon, but in the meantime enjoy your iPhones, iPods and iPads.
